Eric, this is an odd request, but I think it would be a cool addition to us devout WrecklessRadio(TM) listeners if you were to make a square "album cover" type image that we could download to attach to all of our files so when we pull it up on our Ipods (or your own preferred sound-listening device), we would see the image there and could stare aimlessly into the artwork...
Like I said - odd request, but after the thought of making an image for my own collection of the radio shows popped in my head, I figured I'd bug you about it and see what you thought...
OH, and speaking of bugging - when's that new 7"s supposed to come out?

Just to say thanks for a great show this week....especially that marvellous Death In Vegas/Tony Christie link. That's pure broadcasting gold!
My wife Mo and I will be tuning in regularly from now on.....and warning the neighbours - we may be turning up the hi-fi beyond safe settings!!!

I loved that Jane Aire & The Belvederes track that you played. I thought it sounded familiar, and sure enough I already had it on "The Big Stiff Box Set".
Just found out that The Belvederes were really a band called The Edge and featured Lu Edmonds and Jon Moss who were in The Damned before they (originally) broke up in 1978. Jon Moss, rather disturbingly, went on to drum for Culture Club.
That's sort of right but not quite. Yankee Wheels was recorded by Liam Sternberg in Akron, Ohio. The Belvederes didn't really exist - it was just Liam on the guitar and production and whatever else, probably Chris Butler from The Waitresses on drums and this other guy who I met in Akron about four years ago and whose name escapes me on the bass. I remember him telling me how they signed the rights to just about everything on the Akron compilation album over to Stiff Records for a fee of $1.00. He said he had no regrets whatsoever. I thought he was a bit dim.
Jayne Aire moved to England and married The Boomtown Rats bassist. She enlisted Lu Edmunds band, The Edge, and they played as The Belvederes. They made and album which I used to have but sadly no more, the great moment for me was a Pearl Harbour song called Drivin' but she never, as far as I know, came up with anything as overtly weird as Yankee Wheels - I think that's because it's basically a Liam Sternberg record. Liam Sternberg did very well later on by writing Walk Like An Egyptian for The Bangles.
