Bad cover version - such great disappointment when you got it home... Can you tell the difference between these and the original sounds? Music from Pulp, Tony Christie, David Bowie, Legend, Elton John... plus a host of session musicians and singers.

man, i despise Unit 4+2. thats all. i always enjoyed VIRGINIA PLAIN tho. maybe because it reminds me a bit of Be Bop Deluxe. funny thing is i find the vocal styles of Bill Nelson and Bryan Ferry VERY annoying. and there always seemed to be something wrong and empty and slow in the BBD lps, aside from FUTURAMA and LIVE IN THE AIR AGE. almost like they were recorded slow with the intention of speeding them up before release. that being said,i still loved that band.
Unit 4+2 indeed. (sorry Tony)
I didn't actually play a Unit 4 Plus 2 track, just mentioned them in passing. I did sample a bit of Concrete & Clay for an Alan Clayson track but I think I got rid of it. Bebop Deluxe are one of those bands that passed me by even though I was fully aware of them at the time. Roxy Music I love, affected voice and all, because it's pop. Until they started thinking they were latter day jazzers that is. I once very briefly met the guitarist, Phil Manzanera, and he seemed somewhat self-important.
Thanks for doing this radio show Eric. Really enjoying hearing music with the pops and crackles again!
