I only started listening a few episodes ago, really enjoying it. You're playing loads of stuff I wouldn't hear otherwise, and mostly stuff I've never heard before. I hadn't heard that Lynyrd Skynyrd song since the 70s - it was great, it was ...tuff. As for your greatest Christmas song, I don't know. You probably don't hear it in every shop you enter from November 1st to January 1st like you would if you lived here. I admit it sounded better on your show than anywhere else.
I forgot that they play it in shops - we've been so busy touring that we didn't really have time for Christmas shopping and did most of it on the internet. But I did hear a disgusting 'soulful' version of the song in a hardware shop the other day.I'm planning to do a New Years Special which hopefully won't feature a round-up of some of the best moments of the first decade of the 21st century.Glad you're enjoying the show - I'll try to keep it that way!
Hey, Eric -- excellent show, as always. Thanks -- Erica
Great show again. Thanks, Eric. The single is great too. Teflon Wok took me back to the sound of Lureland, a fine place to be. The Bobblehead Doll is another melancholic masterpiece. By the way, what is the name of the song Amy wrote about your meeting up that you've been playing on tour? Is it called Do You Remember That? Will this be getting a release? Keep those radio shows coming. Hope to see you on Merseyside again soon.
Glad you like the new 45. That other song is called Do You Remember That - we haven't recorded it yet. How did you know about it? We've only played it on the Yo La Tengo tour and at an Amnesty benefit so that's a total of eleven times.I'm off to do the New Year's show now.
I was working part-time in a local shop (used to be Woolworths) just before Christmas and was driven nearly insane by the same bunch of CDs played over and over, including - of course - the dreaded Christmas singles.Eric, I'm only grateful you didn't play "Stop The Cavalry" from a former labelmate of yours. I don't want to hear that song again for a very long time.
Hi Eric A belated merry xmas.I am firiously trying to catch up on the shows I have missed ha ha. Bread was one of my late mothers favourite groups, so nice to hear a couple of songs from them.I love the new single, just downloaded it from itunes.Right I better press on with the next show. Happy new year.
