Just stumbled across this, Eric. Thing is I'm part way through Len Bright Combo - Golden Hour to be exact. So what to do? Abandon the LBC CD I can listen to tomorrow in favour of the radio show, or abandon the radio show I can listen to tomorrow in favour of the LBC disk that is currently spinning (up to Sophie now...)?

This is just the sort of thing we need in the wilds of Tasmania. Thanks for making the effort - I can only offer you in return the knowledge of a small holding in Bourrou that has Marans chickens, and so one would hope the eggs that James Bond likes. I think Sue is some sort of contact with Amy on the photo site if you're interested.

This is a great show, well done.
The Kevin Coyne song is so apposite right now.
Just a small point re DJing - you play great records and to that end my preference as a listener, a potentially accquisitive listener, would be to always hear the name of artists AND the song title before and after the tune's played.
I googled to getthe Coyne title...
But its your show, so do waddafuck youlike - nice collection, smart chat.
Irie!

Haha and who says you don't have time for a blog!

Way to go, Eric! Looking forward to tuning into this...

You should look into Podcasting the show. Don't ask me how that works, but it would be great nevertheless.

To Sambeckett - glad you enjoyed the show. I'm pleased you googled Kevin Coyne - everyone should hear Kevin and I'll be working on that here.
I think it would be a little tedious if I said the name of the artist and song title before and after every record - I could as well give the label and catalogue details. My intention is to entertain. You can get the tracklisting from my site: www.wrecklesseric.com
Stay tuned! etc...

My apologies - didn't see the playlist onsite, thats MUCH better than saying the title.
Fantastic stuff, Im a friend of Bleddyn Butcher's and music Critic at Daily Mirror, Gavin Martin by name... I'll do a little slot on yer show in my Friday column in the not too distant.
Keep well!

Cracking first tune! Looking at their Myspace I'm surprised to see that The Hi-Risers are current - this sounds like it was recorded in about 1964. Not enough one note guitar solos in rock n'roll. In fact I can only think of this and Young, Upwardly Mobile & Stupid...

Lord Boswell - the Hi-Risers are great and they do sound like 1964, you're right. I don't think that song of mine has the only other one note solo, there's Kingbee by Slim Harpo to start with though I think that might actually have two notes in it. But it's very minimal. I'll think about it. If anyone else can think of record with a one note solo I'd be pleased if they'd let me know.

Eric, theres a band from the mid-90's in Portland, OR called The Automatics who had a song called "All the Kids Just Wanna Dance" and it had a one-note solo in it. I could send you an mp3 of the 7" if you'd like?

By the way, I loved the show! The Moog lp jacket reading was highly enjoyable haha.

Keep em coming!

Go to 3.58 on Eurythmics Be Yourself Tonight, Dave Stewart does a 1 noter
Though you prolly dont wanna be playing no Eurythmic

Eric Goulden said...

The Eurythmics... I'd play the odd thing by them. Can't stand most of it because it reminds me of the eighties, and women wearing men's suits is something I can't abide - bad enough men wearing them. ButI wouldn't completely discount them.

Thats a sensibly circumscribed yet open minded policy -
there MUST be an angel playing with your heart.

I think that that and Right By Your Side are elating and euphoric tunes.
And in my dotage I realise I like Annie Lennox.
But what I really look forward to from Wreckless Radio is more discoveries like The Hi Risers, theres great youtube clips of them too.

greetings from Dallas, Eric! thanks for spotlighting Salim Nourallah, and thanks especially for that cool Hi-Risers track - it goes great with Ben Vaughn's "Rhythm Guitar"!

There is an ever-increasingly fast one chord solo in XTC's song "Love At First Sight" from Black Sea. You can actually verify the one chord accuracy right here:

Great stuff, Eric!
Surprised no-one brought up Wilco Johnson's great 1-note solo - through two whole choruses - on I'm a Hog for You Baby (Dr Feelgood's Stupidity elpee).
Cheers, look for'ard to more shows (speaking of which, you & Amy aren't coming to Montreal:( )

By the way, I love the song you played of Conie form Sweden. I have attempted to google him with no luck at all. When you come to play, will you pls bring me a copy of his CD? I'll pay you back.

The author of wrecklessericofficial.blogspot.com has written an excellent article. You have made your point and there is not much to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not argue with: It's impossible to devise a foolproof system as Nature will simply evolve a more perfect fool. Thanks for the info.
